Thanks are given to Roy for providing photographs to substantiate his remarks.
Re: THE DISGUSTING STATE OF MANORBIER VILLAGE
I have recently spoken to two of your members regarding this, one said he has "no power", the other said make me a list, he lives in the village, obliviously his powers of observation are lacking.
OK - a List
1. Bus Shelter - graffiti 4 years old, leave it any longer the kids named will be grand parents!
2. The Damages Wall by the amenity area, it is unsightly and dangerous.
3. The War Memorial - tree branches overhanging and touching the cross. Paint work also needs another coat - perhaps you could contact the man who replaced the railings about the paint he used - its good.
4. Amenity Area Fencing breaking up, should have shrub border cleared of sycamore seedlings etc.
5. Village Hall - apart from painting which has been done, it looks a disgrace - weeds and overgrown banks, notice board ( I thought a man from the village was going to replace this a few years ago?)
6. Edges of Roads - The weed killer used by the Council kills the grass but not the weeds, it looks a mess ...... look for yourselves. These areas should be strimmed three times per year.
7. Tarmac outside of Lion Flats - big drop there, Dangerous.
8. Toilet Block I Pembroke Road - been closed for 2 or 3 years, I've seen people urinating down the steps, lets lose it!
In conclusion I hope you take my letter and contents in a serious way. This has taken a lot of effort on my part.
It saddens me that we have five community councillors living in what I would call the "village area", (the village is in a mess), One in Lydstep - its a credit to them, Jameston looks good as well.
You have given a lot of our money to the Football Club - how's their progress, also a lot to the Pond Group, and a backing this new ludicrous Village Appraisal - How many turned up to the Meetings?
Employ a village groundsman ( not me ), I used to do it free. it might cost £500 per year, but it would be money well spent.
I have noticed the stones by the damaged wall have been cleared but the situation is still dangerous.
One more item.
The Newsletter poorly presented, a month out of date. Perhaps the local History Society should take it over!!!
And another concern.
What right have you as a Community Council to let the outrageous remark by the Youth Club helpers to refer to Prince Phillip as " Phil the Greek". Surely you vet this. I found this most objectionable and did the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and passed all grades and was very proud to do so.
Roy Thomas
