This website, since reporting the meeting of the Community Council of 5th June 2008, has been contacted in regard to the "backdoor" method of becoming a councillor. Concerns that no notice of vacancies was given have been expressed along with questions as to how the three people who wrote in to the chairman or the proper officer were informed of the vacancies without the general public being made aware of these two vacancies for co-opting.
To remedy this " backdoor method" perhaps the two new councillors should put themselves forward for election so that they can legally represent the residents after being given authority by going through an election. Now with the proposed four new candidates yet to be selected it has to be remembered that not one councillor, so far, has actually been elected to represent the people. |
