4th March 2003

Mrs. P. Davis
Clerk To Manorbier Community Council
5 Windy Ridge
Manorbier

Dear Mrs. Davis

Meeting 6th January 2003 at Biercross, Safe Routes To School.

Further to the Manorbier community council meeting on the 7~ of January, and the 4th of February 2003.
Whilst I do not wish to perpetuate this subject of apologies, I feel that I am unable to let this matter pass without farther comment, in reference to the meeting that took place on the 6th of January 2003.

I have asked several people who attended this meeting, if they had heard any reference to apologies given by the clerk in respect of councillor Griffiths, or any other councillors, for there non attendance at this meeting. It would appear that like me, they heard no apologies given at the meeting. Also I would like to take issue with councillor Thompson's excuse, for not attending the meeting on the 6th of January, given to the chairwomen at the community council meeting on the 7th of January. When she said she was sorry for not attending the meeting on the 6th of January as she had not been informed of the meeting. The same excuse was made by councillor Thompson, when she attended the Jameston community association meeting on the 21st of January. Does this infer that the clerk is not carrying out her duties, if she is not informing the councillors of the meetings, or was this just a convenient excuse by councillor Thompson ?

I find it hard to believe that councillor Thompson, was not aware of this meeting, particularly as she had acknowledged several of the local residents gathered in the lay- by before the commencement of the meeting, and had also driven past, while the meeting was in progress.

Why would councillor Thompson, not have been informed of this meeting, as the clerk had e-mailed me with a provisional date on the 5th of December 2002, to inform me of the meeting on the 6th of January 2003. I would have far more respect for these councillors, if they were to say that they are not prepared to support this meeting for what ever reason, than give feeble excuses for their non-attendance.

Yours Sincerely,

A.L. Wales
