Meeting on Tuesday 9th July in Connection with Village Appraisal

Mr Alex Allison from the Regeneration Unit of Pembrokeshire County Council presented the meeting with a copy draft appraisal which had been used in other communities in Pembrokeshire.

Concern was expressed by some people attending regarding the notification of the meeting. One resident only being informed of the meeting when he received his "Newsletter" through the post in the morning. Mr Andrew McCabe felt that the advertisement that the Community Council had placed on the notice board and the "Newsletter" did not fully explain what the meeting was about and that it was crucial that the community was fully informed. It was pointed out that this was the second meeting and all of the small community associations had been informed of the original meeting and members of those associations had attended. It was obvious from the meeting that the residents from the first meeting had not attended this meeting but six community councillors attended.

Councillor Calver reminded the meeting that we all ready had wish lists from the Lydstep, Jameston and Manorbier Newton Community Associations with their priority projects and he felt that we should not make the same mistake as had happened in the past when projects with very little support had been carried out and the items commanding greater support were not carried out and therefore the only beneficiaries being the advisory organisations.

Councillor Griffiths felt that the last appraisal had been divisive. When asked to give her reasons said it was because of the involvement of SPARC and their objectives.

Mr Allison stated his time could be allocated to the projects as part of the match funding and quoted a figure of £25 per hour which he insisted was not what he actually got paid.

Any person or organisation wishing to have a question inserted in the questionnaire/ appraisal should submit it to the community council as soon as possible.

Details of the wish lists and the sample questionnaire will be provided to organisations within the community and copies will be posted in all the public buildings in the community.

Wish Lists.
