EXTRA ORDINARY EVENTS
at NOVEMBER EXTRA ORDINARY MEETINGS

As well as the usual monthly meeting of the Manorbier Community Council for November additional activity of two extraordinary meetings took place.

The first extra event was on 9th and held at the Skrinkle Community Centre. The meeting was called by the Chairman and was intended to overcome some of the problems resulting from the abortive attendance level of councillors at the regular meeting of the 1st. Matters included getting adequate numbers of councillors able to authorise cheques at the Bank, discussing the activities of the Staffing Committee, the Newsletter with the attendant pressure to get it out within a reasonable time and the impact of the council being in receipt of the Court Summons about the non-payment to ICT Marketing.

Since this meeting was an extraordinary meeting there was not an opportunity for the public to participate and ask questions. This annoyed some of the public as they had not had a chance to ventilate topics at the scheduled meeting for November.

The second extra ordinary meeting was held on the 15th November in the Parish Room and arrangements had been put in place for the Solicitor acting for the Council ( Mr Luke Smith of Lowless & Lowless) to visit the council to discuss the ICT Marketing payment situation. Other topics included the Newsletter, the Bank situation of getting signatories by councillors acceptable to the Bank and the Staffing Committee.

This meeting was called by two councillors ( Davies and Calver ) who considered that the progress of the council was impeded by there not being a meeting at the beginning of the month. However the main thrust of the meeting was the advice from, and instructions to, the solicitor.

Again the press ( Western Telegraph ) carry information on the development centred on the village appraisal started in 2002 and now perhaps reaching its conclusion. ICT Marketing have issued a county court writ against the Council over the non-payment of their bill for some £4,800.

The events surrounding this appraisal, its alleged manipulation and corruption of input data might be about to unfold in court.
