Manorbier Community Council Meeting 5th July 2007
Ex County Councillor Pat Griffiths and Ex Community Councillor Elisabeth
Pellowe (formerly Thompson) fail in their attempt to get an apology out of Manorbier
Community or its Councillors over "Stabbing in back and Perjury allegations"
A letter was received by the Council from solicitors acting for Mrs Griffiths in connection with the claim by the Proper Officer to Manorbier Community Council (acting as their Clerk ) and a Manorbier Community Council Councillor who is the treasurer of the Manorbier & District Community Association ( Mr David Neads ) over his publicly made allegations that both Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Pellowe had stabbed the Manorbier Community Council in the back by their committing perjury in the court case involving ICT Marketing of Haverfordwest.
Cllr Neads it seems is not prepared to discuss the matter which seems very odd as Mrs Griffiths is the Chairperson of the Manorbier & District Community Association whilst Mr Neads has been their treasurer which is a responsible role within that organisation. Councillor Kidney who appeared ignorant of the facts of the case and seemed not to comprehend the serious allegations that had been made against the ex-community councillors by Cllr Neads. Cllr Neads then supported Cllr Wales by refusing to hold a debate on the subject. Both Chairman Wales and Cllr Neads again stated that they had spent enough time on Mrs Griffiths and would not attend any meeting to discuss Mrs Griffith's concerns. It was then proposed to write to the solicitors and inform them of the council's decision and hope this would be the last they heard from Mrs Griffiths.
A full apology is required by Cllr Thompson under threat of further action if it is
not forthcoming.
Councillor Pellowe complains that Council Chairman Wales and Cllr Neads have not
told the truth to their fellow councillors
Mrs Pellowe (formerly Thompson) had written to the council and the letter was read out to
councillors. Mrs Pellowe admitted in her letter that she had discussed the ICT Marketing case
with Cllr Wales and Cllr Neads privately on numerous occasions, a fact neither of the two present councillors had ever informed the council of, before they committed nearly £20,000 of taxpayers money on a court case which was lost.
Mrs Pellowe was very concerned that her good name and therefore her reputation had
been called into disrepute and accused the council of both maladministration and injustice.
She asked that the council members be made aware of the very serious nature of this matter and
issued a veiled threat to the council that she would be taking the mater further if a
satisfactory apology was not received.
Councillors Wales, Neads, and Kidney again voiced their concerns that this was a complete
waste of time and they had heard enough of her complaint and wasted enough time on the
issue. Cllr Wales said, "it had taken enough time of his life and he would not attend or take part in any meetings to discuss it if any meetings were to be called".
Cllr Calver was prepared to listen to her complaint but as other councillors were not
interested he proposed that the only option both of the ex-councillors had was to either make a
formal complaint to the ombudsman or instruct solicitors. He proposed that the council
write to Mrs Pellowe and inform her that this was the councils response. That proposal was accepted.
Website Comments
One wonders how far both Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Pellowe are prepared to take this issue
or could it just be another damp squib as was the threat from Debbie Garside of ICT
Marketing to sue the council that was made earlier in the year.
