A message from the County Councillor - Malcolm Calver

As the County Councillor for the area my concern has been that over the years roads have become neglected and in many places dangerous for traffic during times of heavy rainfall. There has also been the reoccurring cost to the taxpayer in times of heavy rainfall and the need for PCC vehicles to pump out areas that have become flooded. I must thank Mr Brian Maddox at PCC for supplying the necessary finance to carry out schemes shown above. The area at Castle Lane St. Florence has been a road hazard for many years and now with a new soak away and an overflow now connected to the existing road drainage network it will solve the problem of the mud on the road corner.

Road improvements at the Green Grove corner in Jameston will result in an end to flooding on that road corner and an end the expense to the taxpayer of having to supplying sandbags and pumping off the surface water during periods of heavy rainfall.

In Jameston new gullies alongside the path from the garage/shop will hopefully rectify the drainage problems which caused great inconvenience to users of the path.

Finally the work to the gully outside the Parsonage Inn which resulted in floods in St Florence has now been rectified.
